GMMC Equipment

The GMMC has equipment that is available to trip coordinators when hosting a GMMC sanctioned event. Club gear must be reserved at a minimum of four (4) days in advance of your trip.

If trip participants require to loan club gear for the event, please contact your trip coordinator for reservation. To limit the points of contact, the trip coordinator is responsible for picking up and dropping off all club gear loaned out for the event to the gear managers.

GMMC equipment is NOT available for loan outside of GMMC sanctioned events.

  1. Trip coordinators, please contact wintertrips@gmmc.ca and summertrips@gmmc.ca for inquiries about reserving / loaning out club equipment for club events.


  1. All equipment is to be isolated for a minimum of three (3) days prior to the club event.


  1. In the event that the soft equipment (ropes, harnesses, slings, quickdraws, etc.) cannot be isolated as per item 3 above, the equipment will not be loaned out for the event.


  1. In the event that any equipment with no soft goods (ice screws, ice axes, avalanche safety gear, etc.) cannot be isolated as per item 3 above, they are to be sprayed with a diluted solution of bleach and water followed by adequate drying.

Participant and Trip Coordinator Personal Equipment

Personal equipment to be used on an event must be isolated (from other users outside of their cohort / households) for a minimum of three (3) days prior to the start of the event or have been washed in warm soapy water. This includes, but is not limited to: ropes, harnesses, slings, quickdraws, etc. For equipment with no soft materials or plastic (i.e. carabiners, ice axes, ice screws, crampons, avalanche safety gear, skis, ski poles, hiking poles, etc.), spraying with a dilute solution of bleach and water followed by adequately drying is an acceptable alternative.

Trip Coordinators - Reserving Club Gear for event:

  1. To ensure availability of gear and for clarity of gear required, all trip coordinators MUST use the GMMC Gear Inventory document (provided via link from gear manager) to notify the gear manager of the equipment required for the trip. Please do not send multiple emails/texts to the gear managers telling them what you require, as it can become confusing and harder to coordinate shared gear. Once the trip coordinator has filled out this document, please notify the gear managers.


  1. All trip coordinators are responsible for the location of the GMMC equipment checked out for their event. If you checked out the gear, you are responsible to track it down and return all the gear to the gear managers.


  1. All ropes, tents, ice axes and ice screws MUST be dried out prior to return to gear managers.


  1. It is the responsibility of the trip coordinators to arrange for pick up and drop of all GMMC equipment with the gear managers.

Trip coordinators are to read the equipment sections in Schedule A of the GMMC Waiver and the GMMC Gear Inventory notes to be aware of the risks associated with using club gear.
