Topic: Birkebeiner Food Station Details

Volunteers will meet at the Sherwood Park Tim Horton's on Wye Road at 7:00 am. From there, we will proceed to the Waskahegan Staging Area where we will present proof of vaccinations and identifications before heading out to our Food Station. Once at the site, volunteers will be directed to set up the station and get a fire going. During the day, volunteers will supply the skiers with food and hydration and keep the area clean. At the end of the day, volunteers will clean up the area and return all the unused food and hydration as directed. The estimated return time to the Waskahegan Staging area is 3:00 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers are expected to remain on site all day. They should dress in plenty of layers, bring food and snacks, and any medications they may need.

Provisions to ensure the safety of volunteers include: sealed individual water bottles, individually pre-packaged food and nutrition offerings, including hydration powder, masks and nitrile gloves supplied in the station sled, fire pit with fire wood, warming/medical tent at each site, 4 x 4 crew cab transport vehicles,, provision of a lunch including warm soup and sandwich, masks required at all times indoors and within transport vehicles, social distancing outdoors, QR code check once at the beginning of the day at the Visitor Centre where you will receive an arm tag identifying that you have been checked, masks worn whenever handling food/water, and when rendering aid to a skier, two person Medical Team at each site.
