Activity Type: Ice Climbing

Difficulty Rating: Beginner, Intermediate, Difficult

Itinerary: More ice climbing! Because smashing never really gets boring.

The trip will be based out of Canmore for easy access to rental gear (Gear Up) and ice climbs of appropriate difficulty. This trip is beginner friendly and will involve WI2-WI4 grade climbing.

Possible climbing areas:

-Kings Creek

-Wedge Smear

-Haffner Creek

-Junk Yards/Grassi Falls

-Tasting Fear

Climbs will be determined closer to the date (based on ice conditions, avalanche conditions, group composition, intel about other groups' objectives, etc).

Prerequisites / Courses Required: 
-Must know how to safely belay.

Required items to bring:

NOTE: If necessary, rental equipment is available at Gear Up equipment rentals in Canmore. Ensure you book early as rental stock may be limited (booking rental equipment is free of charge and can be cancelled up to a couple days before the trip). Make sure to rent mountaineering boots, technical crampons and ice tools. They also rent harnesses and helmets (which are also required for the trip). Let them know you will be ice climbing.

ACCOMODATIONS

As per club guidelines, participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation. All climbs are within ~1 hour drive of Canmore.

Health & Wellness Form: This document is to be completed by trip participants & trip coordinators the day of travel to an event as well as every morning of the event.
