Animal Policy (2012):
Dogs on club trips: It has been brought to the attention of the executive that the topic of pets on club trips needed to be raised. We realize that pets are an important part of many people's lives and can often be fun to travel with. To address every type of pet, trip, travel and accommodation circumstance is not possible.
Two points club members should agree on are the importance of the safety, and the enjoyment of all members on club trips. Directly from the Parks Canada website: "When Hiking or Cycling ... Leave your dog AT HOME. Dogs can antagonize bears."
Secondly, we aim to ensure all participants on club trips have an enjoyable experience - for some people pets are part of this, for others they are not. So as a club we feel it's best not to permit pets on club trips to retain our commitment to environmental preservation and a positive club trip experience for all members.
